, our backyard is an outdoorsman's playground, a boundless oasis for the active soul. Whether you're an avid angler, a hardcore camper, or a professional patio drinker, the options are endless, and we feel very fortunate to live in such a beautiful place.In an effort to increase physical activity and further promote outdoor recreation at TentCraft, we recently applied for a grant from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to support our active culture. The grant, "Getting to the Heart of the Matter," was made possible by grant operations organizations - etworks Northwest and Michigan Works - and is a collaborative initiative that strives to increase healthy lifestyle choices across Michigan's workforce. We're using the grant to provide our employees access to some of Traverse City's most desirable recreational activities: kayaking, standup paddleboarding (SUP'ing), and snowshoeing. Special thanks to Rob Dickinson, our Business Liaison from Michigan Works, and Kathy Taylor, the program's Operations Manager at Networks Northwest, for helping us boost our outdoor recreational efforts at TentCraft!
Work-life balance is an important factor in our culture, and we believe our employees deserve ample opportunity to bask in the recreational splendors Traverse City has to offer. All of the paddling and snowshoe gear we obtained from the grant is stored at our facility, which makes a lunchtime paddle down the Boardman River or a sunset cruise around the lake an obvious choice when the weather turns nice. And once winter shows its face, we'll have snowshoes available for a weekend hike along the peninsula. Winter is coming, people, and we plan on enjoying it in all of its snow-laden glory.
